Our
local papers are never short on stories when it comes to incidents relating
to underage drinking, they remind us on a weekly basis of the damage
our community and its residents are experiencing at the hands of young
people who engage in consuming large amounts of alcohol just for a laugh!
Martin
Connolly informs our pupils about some of the complaints and concerns
he receives on a daily basis from some of our local residents.
Q
– What kind of complaints do you receive about underage drinking?
A – Unfortunately I receive a lot of complaints about anti-social
behaviour taking place as a result of young people consuming large amounts
of alcohol which they cannot handle.
Q
– What kind of anti-social behaviour?
A – Large groups of young people getting into fights, scaring
pensioners by knocking on their doors and then running away, or at times
even damaging community property just for a bit of ‘craic’!
