website is part of a project undertaken by the Primary 7 children of
Rosemount Primary
School, Derry City, N.Ireland, to highlight the dangers and effects of
underage drinking in their local community.

The
purpose of this web site is to provide the youth of
Derry
with an insight of the harm that they are causing not only to their own
health and well being but also to the community at large. As part of our

Interviewed
clr Helen Quigley our former Mayor, to establish her views on who is to
blame and what can be done to reduce the amount of underage drinking in
our city.
Talked
to Dr. Alan McKinney head of accident and emergency in Altnagelvin Hospital,
about the dangers to our health as a result of drinking at a young age.
Visited
local off-licence's and talked to some of the employees about the difficulties
they face when they refuse to sell alcohol to those that are under the
legal age.
Talked
to Martin Connolly a local drugs awareness officer to establish the growing
concerns surrounding this issue.
Visited
local areas that are plagued and destroyed on a weekly basis as a result
of large gangs gathering together to consume drink.

The launch of our short film "Think B4
U Drink",will take place on Wednesday 21st November 2007
@ 11am in Rosemount Primary School. We have invited pupils from neighbouring
primary and secondary schools; Patricia Lewsley (NICCY) will officially
launch our film and many other key representatives from the community
will also be in attendance to help celebrate the good work of our young
people.
